President of Aizu University, Japan, Prof. Shigeaki Tsunoyama, visited HUST on Nov. 26 with his assistant Tatsuki Kawaguchi and Prof. Guo Song, a HUST alumni teaching at Aizu. Prof. Lin Pinghua, executive-vice-President of HUST, had a meeting with Prof. Shigeaki Tsunoyama and expressed his wish of further cooperation between the two universities on students joined training and academic exchanges.
There are many international teachers working at Aizu University, introduced by Prof. Shigeaki Tsunoyama, and many of them are Chinese teachers. The main courses are taught in English, which makes good foundation for the students combined training. Prof. Shigeaki Tsunoyama had visited HUST in April, 2007 and signed the Agreement between Aizu University and HUST on Dual PhD Degrees Joined Training. According to the agreement, 3 excellent undergraduates had been selected from the Computer School of HUST to take further study at Aizu University after their graduation in HUST. After three-years' studying in Aizu, they will return to HUST and continue their last two-years' learning, and then they will get dual PhDs from the both universities.
During the visit in HUST, Prof. Shigeaki Tsunoyama and his colleagues paid a visit to the School of Computer Science particularly. They talked with Dean Jin Hai about the joined training for undergraduates. Both sides agreed that further discussion for the details would be made soon and they would find the best way to work together.
