The groundbreaking ceremony of Wuhan Future-Tech City and Wuhan Renewable Energy Institute was held in Wuhan East Lake High-Tech Zone on the morning of October 28.
Launched jointly by Wuhan municipal government and the Huazhong University of Science & Technology HUST , Wuhan Renewable Energy Institute is the first project initiated by Wuhan Future-Tech City .
The Institute aims to meet the demands of renewable energy industry and energy conservation and environmental friendly society in Wuhan. Managed by HUST, the Institute is committed to the integration of scientific resources from home and abroad, and dedicated to frontier scientific development in a number of new renewable energy technologies.
It also seeks to address key technologic problems in the development of the industry, attain an array of innovative achievements, core technologies and patents, and develop a batch of products with independent intellectual property to win an international advanced and even leading position and offer strong support for the industrial development.
HUST oversees the institute that is industry oriented and innovation-building targeted. The Institute takes priority in attracting top-class talents and strives to develop the Institute into a national leading R&D center and industrial innovative base with global influence through 3-5 years efforts.
The building of the Institute will be built under the auspices of Wuhan municipal government. It covers an area of 73,000 square meters, including the main building 21,000 square meters , the laboratory podium 42,000 square meters and supporting services center 10,000 square meters . The ecological building enjoys low energy consumption and non-pollution, and a rational utilization of water, wind, solar power and other natural resources.
It is designed jointly by Holland Grontmij and Shanghai Urban Planning and Architectural Institute, with the calla its designing concept that signifies the flower of renewable energy in Wuhan . The construction will be first started as the landmark of Wuhan Future-Tech City.
Wuhan Future-Tech City is located in the east of the East Lake High-Tech Zone, with a capacity for 300,000 people, covering an area of 28,000 square kilometers at the first stage. The Future-Tech City aims at an innovative R&D center that will be home to national and international major large-scale enterprises, scientific institutions as well as high caliber talents and teams from home and abroad.
Future scientific and industrial development will cover five leading industries such as optoelectronics information, biomedicine, energy and environmental protection, modern equipments manufacturing and high-tech agriculture.
