WNLO Awarded 1st Sino Swiss Sci & Tech Cooperation Project

Write: Aithne [2011-05-20]

As informed by Sino-Swiss Science and Technology Cooperation SSSTC Program committee, an SSSTC Institutional Partnership grant has been approved, with Prof Liu Sheng and Prof Luo Xiaobing from Wuhan National Laboratory for OptoElectronics, as Chinese main applicants, and Swiss main applicant Dr. Qing Wang, Head of Research Section, Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, CHUV.

The collaboration is WNLO's first SSSTC project, which aims to complete the research project entitled Mouse LVP Telemetry through exchange of students and expertise between the two institutions in three years' time, with the goal to generate an implantable flow-through left ventricular pressure telemetric transmitter implant enabling a long-term 24-hour blood pressure monitoring in a freely moving mouse. Chinese scientists will focus on the research of electric circuit integration; Swiss scientists will center on medical and clinical testing.

The SSSTC program was launched in 2008 by Swiss government with the aim to strengthen scientific cooperation between Switzerland and China. China's Ministry of Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese higher institutions attach great importance to the program. It has been the third time for the program to award Sino-Swiss projects. This time's evaluation awarded 15 Sino-Swiss Institutional partnership grants and 47 faculty and staff exchange grants.
