HUST president Li Peigen, and vice president Duan Xianzhong visited Canada and the USA on Dec 10 to recruit overseas talents and advertise the University's personnel policies.
The delegation visited six cities including Vancouver, Toronto, Boston, Houston, San Francisco and Los Angeles and organized nine talents exchange fairs. Prof Li Peigen told the students and scholars attending the fair the rare opportunities, the good environment and preferential policies the University offers to the overseas returnees.The delegation received support and help from the education section of Chinese consulate abroad.

Li also gave an invited speech to the students and scholars attending the fair in the School of Life Sciences in Stanford University. The delegation received over 150 application letters and resumes. When asked about how to view the phenomenon in some Chinese universities that some teachers who engage in research shun teaching, Li noted, universities are committed to educating students; teaching and research are equally important in a research university.
The delegation visited HUST alumni associations in Vancouver, Toronto, Boston, etc. HUST alumni were delighted with every progress HUST has made and shared their concern about the difficulties HUST confronts. They brainstormed their ideas and were pleased to contribute to the University's development.

The delegates also visited the University of Waterloo in Canada, MIT, Boston College, Harvard School of Medicine, Cancer Research Center in Houston and the School of Life Sciences of Stanford University.
