The Fountain of Perception in China Pavilion during the Expo 2010, which consists of 500 lotuses and nappe and represents figuratively Harmony, marks the successful cooperation between NAU and companies.
Shanghai FlowerPort, College of Horticulture at NAU and Nanjing Garden of Lotus were jointly authorized to realize the blossom of lotuses during the expo period of 148 days in the China Pavilion by the committee of World Expo, Shanghai in January, 2010. In order to make lotuses blossom in April, the faculty and students from College of Horticulture at NAU devoted all their energy to the project of data collection, growth recording and blossom period prediction, and eventually complete the task successfully.
Shanghai FlowerPort, covering an area of 1,000,000 square meters, is a base of flower breeding, research and training. The world leading technology and advanced devices enable the FlowerPort to provide a variety of precious flowers for customers at home and abroad. As the field trip and research base of College of Horticulture, Shanghai Flower Port has built up cooperation with NAU since 2006 and has undertaken six research projects ever since.
