Perth Mayor Lisa Scaffidi Visits NJU

Lisa Scaffidi, Lord Mayor of Perth, visited Nanjing University on April 13 and exchanged views with our university on how to promote our cooperation in astronomy and economics, and how to arrange cooperation programs to allow scholars in the two fields from both sides to exchange visits with each other.

Chancellor Hong Yinxing on behalf of Nanjing University welcomed the visit of Mayor Scaffidi and briefed her on the history of our university and the progress we had made in the 985 Project construction and in some representative international cooperation and exchange programs, such as the Johns Hopkins University-Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies and the German-Chinese Institute for Legal Studies.

Chancellor Hong also expressed NJU s wish to promote extensive cooperation and exchanges with Australian universities and colleges, including the University of Western Australia. Mayor Lisa Scaffidi responded positively and said that the Government of Western Australia always attached great importance to the academic exchanges and cooperation with Nanjing University, and they would give further support to our cooperation.

Perth is the capital of the Australian state of Western Australia, which is situated in the southwest of the State, about 18km from the mouth of the Swan River. Established in February 1911, the University of Western Australia (UWA) is the oldest university in the state of Western Australia.
