Prof. James A. Mirrlees of the University of Cambridge, winner of the 1996 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, on November 15 delivered a lecture titled This Great Recession and Its Importance to China to over 400 NJU students on Xianlin Campus.
Prof. Mirrlees in his lecture emphasized that in response to the current global financial crisis the Chinese government has adopted a series of resolute measures, which prove to be very effective and beneficial to both China and other countries.
The Nobel Prize winner also encouraged NJU students to strive for originality and give full play to their creativity.
Prof. Zhang Rong, Vice President of Nanjing University, and Mr. Wang Shouwen, Vice Mayor of Nanjing, also attended the lecture.
