From June 21 to June 30, a seven-member delegation fromDepartment of Foods Science of University of Missouri paid a visit to our university. The exchange was supported by International Science and Education Competitive Grants Program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. University of Missouri is the American responsible party while Jiangnan University the international partner of the Program. The delegation consisted of the following members: Prof. Lin Mengshi (the U.S. principal of international cooperation program) from Food Science Department of University of Missouri, Prof. Ingolf Gruen (in charge of graduate education), Prof. Azlin Mustapha (in charge of undergraduate education) and four representatives of graduate students of School of Food Science and Technology.
President Chen Jian, principal of international cooperation program from Chinese representatives, met the delegation from University of Missouri with enthusiasm, and briefed the guests on the history and development of our university, highlighting the advantage of our university in the field of food science research and education. Both sides exchanged views on the form and content of future cooperation. The delegation also visited the State Key Laboratories of Food Science and Technology and carried out experimental research and scientific research activities about food safety and quality control with its teachers and students. The delegation from University of Missouri spoke highly of the research level and strength of our university in the field of food science, and expressed their strong desire to strengthen the relationship to a further cooperation.
