Recently, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance disclosed the seventh batch of characteristic majors at institution of higher education. Among the majors mentioned, IoT Engineering and Biotechnology of Jiangnan University was recognized as a national characteristic major. So forth, 15 majors at Jiangnan University have been recognized as national characteristic majors.
This program, development of national characteristic majors, was launched by Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance to reform the teachings and improve the quality of undergraduate education. It s won nationwide respect and recognition since it played an important role in majors restructuring, bettering the quality of talents cultivation, and forming characteristics. Conducted in accordance with the program to develop characteristic majors at institution of higher education, nationwide 78 majors went through strict evaluation and assessment, and were recognized as characteristic majors in the seventh batch. Among the majors approved, those majors related to strategic emerging industries would be allocated 0.2 million RMB to support their development. And extra funds would be provided by universities themselves.
