Qatar intends to use cruise ships to accommodate visitors during the 2022 World Cup.
Qatar plans to have 240 properties before the 2022 World Cup starts. At the moment, it has 100 existing properties and an additional 140 properties will be sourced or constructed to meet accommodation needs, including a cruise ship project in Al Wakrah with 6,000 rooms, as reported in Tour Expi.
The use of cruise ships is a practical solution for the accommodation demand during the tournament as it was the same solution used in South Africa in the last World Cup.
