It s Bali s turn now to consider an island-wide train system in a bid to ease up on traffic congestion.
The network will circumnavigate the island, and is expected to be developed in conjunction with Japan, according to a report in TravelDailyAsia. The system is expected to be operational by 2013. The Japan International Cooperation Agency and the Indonesian Transportation Ministry have already conducted feasibility studies into the project, with the network likely to be designed based on existing slow tourist trains in Japan.
