A 150-200% rise in domestic airfares has led Indians to spend their holidays abroad this season.
Ankur Bhatia, MD, travel consultancy firm Bird Group, was quoted as having said that a shift of 10-15% of the holidaying population to international destinations from domestic ones happens almost every year. But this time, at least 20-25% of the holidayers are expected to go abroad, especially, UAE, Thailand and Malaysia, as quoted in eTurboNews. Cheaper hotel rates also play a factor to the Indian traveler s decision to go abroad.
Other popular destinations include Singapore, Hong Kong, Colombo, and Kathmandu.
