Siem Reap will start constructing its new airport in February 2011.
The new airport is estimated to cost US$ one-billion and will take five years to complete, as reported in TTR Weekly. The location of the new airport is 60-kilometres from Siem Reap town centre. Once complete, it will be able to cater to 14-to-16 million passengers each year.
NSIA Company, owned by two South Korean firms Camco Airport Company and Lees A&A Company, are the contractors accountable for the project.
