Greece s foreign minister Dimitris Droutsas has teamed up with Pavlos Geroulanos, culture and tourism minister, in an effort to facilitate the visa-issuing process for foreign nationals who want to visit the country.
This is part of an initiative to attract more tourists to Greece, particularly tourists from emerging markets such as China, India, Russia, Ukraine and Turkey. According to a report in Tour Expi, Droutsas and Geroulanos have released a joint statement that announced their decision to set up a working group comprising of officials from both ministries to work toward breaking down the barriers hindering thousands of tourists from visiting Greece. This initiative calls for ministry officials to cooperate more closely with staff at the Greek consulates and travel agencies. Setting up visa centres in cities where there are no consulates is also part of the plan.
