British tourists planning their Easter break are threatened by a holiday nightmare as Spanish airport workers once again threaten to strike. The unions have announced 19 strike days beginning on April 20 and continuing through into May, June and July.
Ryanair has already calculated it will have to cancel 300-flights for 57,000 passengers over the Easter period, if the strike action were to go through, as reported in eTurboNews.
Three unions representing 12,500 ground staff employed by Spanish Airports Authority (AENA) are behind the move, which is in protest against the privatisation of airports. The walk-outs are scheduled for April 20, 21, 24, 25 and 30 (Good Friday is on April 22 and Easter Sunday on April 24). Further strike calls are slated for May and June, as also July 1,2,3,4, 15 and 22.
