FIFTH NATIONAL FORUM ON THE TEACHING OF LIFE SCIENCE HELD IN SHANXI UNIVERSITY

The fifth National Forum on "Teaching of Life Science" was held from the 22nd to the 24th of Oct. in Shanxi University, with approximately 400 representatives from 169 universities participating. Many universities of the 985 and 211 project, were represented. Peking University, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, University of Science and Technology of China, Fudan University, Nankai University, Nanjing University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Beijing Normal University, China Agricultural University, Xiamen University, Lanzhou University, Wuhan University, Jilin University, Shandong University, Sichuan University, East China Normal University, Tongji University, attended the meeting.

Distinguished guests exchanged ideas with teachers of life science and deliberated on the important
issues concerning teaching in this field, under four specific themes centering on the exploration and practice of the personnel training. Among those taking part were; Academician Zheng Guangmei from Beijing Normal University, a nationally distinguished teacher; Academician Zhao Guoping from Southern Center of the National Human Genome Research; Academician He Lin from the Bio-x Center at Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Deputy Director Li Zhijun from the Economic Research Department of the Development and Research Centre of the State Council; senior editor Wu Xiang from Higher Education Press; Professor Qiao Shouyi of Fudan University, a national distinguished teacher and Vice Chairman of the Bioscience and Engineering Education Guidance Committee of the Education Ministry; Professor Xu Chongren of Peking University, a national distinguished teacher and Vice Chairman of the Bioscience and Engineering Education Guidance Committee of the Education Ministry; Professor Guo Guichun of Shanxi University, a member of the Social Science Committee of Education Ministry and also the vice chairman of Philosophy Guidance Committee of Higher Education; Professor Xing Long, vice-president of Shanxi University, the leading person for state elaborate courses and a member of Education Guidance Committee of the Education Ministry.
