"Villages in Development" cooperative design workshop initiated by the School of Architecture, SCUT, together with Graduate Students Department, Harvard University, made its opening in SCUT on Mar. 9th.
The workshop will launch a 3-5 year's investigation towards different types of villages in Pearl River Delta, and derive a systematic study under the background of constructing new socialist countryside in terms of economic development, history and culture, living environment as well as local urban-rural relationship. The one-week-long workshop of this time will take Longmei Village and Xia'ni Village in Panyu District as its objects and the investigation will be conducted among the fields of the two areas.
During the work, renowned professors from Sun Yat-sen University, South China Agricultural University and SCUT will be invited to give special lectures and have in-depth discussions with leaders and urban & rural planners from the Provincial Construction Department, the Provincial Urban-rural Design and Research Institute, as well as the Planning Bureaus of Panyu District and of Zengcheng City.
