On May 26, Miraglia, consulate general of Italy, Guangzhou, presented the medal of "Cavaliere dell'Ordine della stella della Solidariet Italiana" to Prof. ZHU Min, vice-president of SCUT in the name of the Italian President to commend Zhu's contributions to Sino-Italian academic and cultural exchanges. The awarding ceremony was held at SCUT's Fruit Bar.
Set in 1947, the medal is supposed to commend Italians or foreigners who live outside Italy but have made remarkable contributions in strengthening mutual friendship between Italy and the country they live in.
It is reported that the exchanges between SCUT and Italian universities has increased rapidly in the past decade. Since the cooperation between SCUT and University of Ferrara began in 2000, the two parties have conducted various cooperative projects in teacher exchange, student joint education, symposiums and workshops, etc. The two sides also jointly established Yellow House, a research base of cities and architectures in China and Italy.
