First batch of nine sofa sleeper coaches left CNR Tangshan Locomotive & Rolling Stock Works to Alashankou on June 14, 2005. This is the first time that Chinese railway coach enters middle Asia.
In the end of 2004, CNR Tangshan Works was awarded a order by a Chinese agent in an international bid for supplying 54 broad gauge coaches to Turkmenistan. The contract consists of 20 cushioned sleeper coaches, 30 sofa sleeper coaches and 4 power vans.
Coaches will pass through Alashankou, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and arrive in Turkmenistan finally.
