The 5-meter Wide and Heavy Plate Project of Hunan Xiangtan Iron &Steel Group Co., Ltd (Xiangtan Steel) was commenced on November 6.
The project, with a total investment of 10 billion yuan, the largest investment ever in Xiangtan Steel's history, is listed as one of the key projects of Hunan to expedite industrialization. The main body of the project will get an investment of 8 billion yuan to construct a 3,000,000 t/a steel-making and continuous casting line and a 5-meter wide and heavy plate project. Shanghai Baoye Construction Corp., Ltd (SBC-MCC) contracts for part of the steel-making and continuous casting project.
