On October 16, 2009, a completion and commissioning ceremony was held for No. 8 blast furnace of Shaoguan Iron & Steel Group Co., Ltd., which was undertaken by CISDI Engineering Co., Ltd. (CISDI). Chairman & Party Secretary Yu Ziquan and President Lu Jianhua of Shaoguan Iron & Steel Group, Chairman & Party Secretary Xiao Xuewen of CISDI, Chairman Tian Ye of MCC Shijiu Construction Co., Ltd. (Shijiu) and heads of various construction units were present at the event and cut the ribbon for the ceremony.
As a key project in compliance with the national industry policies, No. 8 Blast Furnace was constructed with the targets to close down backward production facilities and adjust the product mix. The works was commenced on March 12, 2008, with a construction period of one and a half years. With a working volume of 3,200 cubic meters, this blast furnace is the largest one in the South of China, and its general technical and equipment level is also rated at the top among the similar furnaces in China.
The working life of the blast furnace is 15 years, and the designed annual output is 2.75 million tons.
Since commencement of the project, CISDI has been strictly sticking to its service motto, complying with the terms and conditions of the contract and offering the advanced technologies and quality services for the project implementation. At the same time, CISDI has carried out close coordination with all the other construction units so as to guarantee the implementation progress and the project quality.
Xiao Xuewen promised that, after the blast furnace has produced steel, CISDI would continue to provide escorting and safeguarding service for the facility. He mentioned that, against the current overall background of structural adjustment of iron & steel industry, both Shaoguan Iron & Steel Group and CISDI had set up definite strategic targets. CISDI would proceed to work closely with its partner, and apply the All-Life-Cycle Service Mode for the long-term development of Shaoguan Iron & Steel Group.
Lu Jianhua gave full recognition and placed a high premium on the perfect performance of all the construction units, and expected smooth commissioning and operation of No. 8 blast furnace. On behalf of the Employer, he extended sincere gratitude to the EPC contractor, the construction and supervision units, as well as the equipment manufacturers.
