Rouhieh Tabibzadegan, a Canadian teacher, has been teaching English at YUFE for the last 6 years. Since Sept. 2009, Rouhieh has been teaching English voluntarily in her spare time in Zhongyan Primary School and Longquan Primary School in Wuhua District, Kunming. In addition, she also has been working voluntarily in another two elementary schools since this March in Wuhua District: Biguang Primary School and Luofeng Primary School. By July 2010 she had taught 192 periods to more than 1,882 pupils in total. Furthermore, she sacrificed her spare time during last summer holiday to voluntarily teach English to more than 180 pupils in Biguang Primary School.

Rouhieh says she has a deep affection for China and she sincerely hopes to devote herself to serving the Chinese people. She honors her commitment through volunteer work. Her contribution is universally acknowledged by all circles in the society. In particular, the four primary schools she currently serves all sent to her and YUFE letters of acknowledgement to express their gratitude for her contribution. They offered lavish praises for the significant role she has played in improving students English abilities, and they expressed their heart-felt hope that she will continue her volunteer work in their schools. Her story has moved and influenced staff and students at our university. Currently, 15 students assist her to do volunteer work in primary schools.

However, her volunteer work does not overshadow her devotion to her job. She is in company with her students all through the day starting from the early morning class and ending with English Corner.

Even on weekends, she coaches students interested in English. Since 2005, she has been organizing and taking active part in English Corner and English Salon, winning trust and respect and forging a deep friendship from and with the students. In 2009, she won the Yunnan Provincial Friendship Reward given to foreign experts in Yunnan Province. She surely deserves it.
