Foreign Teachers and Students in Chongqing Celebrated the New Year Together

On December 18th, 2008, "New Year's Party for Foreign Teachers and Students in Chongqing" as well as "Awarding Ceremony of Excellent Foreign Teachers in Chongqing" was held on the new campus of Chongqing Normal University. The party was hosted by Chongqing Education Committee. Leaders of the municipal government, leaders of various universities and the representatives of the foreign teachers and students attended the meeting. As for our university, Chen Zhiyong, Vice-president, Yang Hong, Vice-director of Foreign Affairs Office, Yang Huaren, Vice-director of Students' Affairs Office, Chinese and foreign teachers and about 100 foreign students were invited to the party.
At the awarding ceremony, leaders from the municipal government and Education Committee delivered enthusiastic speeches. Two foreign teachers of our university, Prof. He Tongchuan form the USA and Philip from Canada, were awarded "2008 outstanding foreign teachers of Chongqing". 48 foreign students of CQMU were granted the 2008 Mayor Scholarship.
The New Year's party was held after the awarding ceremony, in which the foreign students from various universities displayed their talents and gifts with their wonderful performances. Our university had two programs. The chorus "Silent Night" sung in six different languages was unique in style and brought the New Year's greetings to the foreign students; the band enthusiastically performed the "Enter Sandma", whose rhythmic melody cheered the audience.
After the party, the foreign students of different universities had a tug-of-war. The students from CQMU were energetic and won the second prize in this 1st Tug-of-war of Foreign Students in Chongqing.
The party was an opportunity for us to enhance the friendship with the foreign teachers and students from other universities. It would also be positive to our future work related to the foreign teachers and students of CQMU.
