On March 24, 2010, the 10th Asia-Pacific Orchid Conference (APOC) and the 20th China Orchid Show (COS) came to a successful conclusion at the Chongqing International Convention and Exhibition Center.
The APOC is held once every three years by the Asia-Pacific Orchid Association and it is also an international orchid exhibition. Up to date nine conferences have been held in countries such as Japan, Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, South Korea, with 30 countries and regions as participants. This is the first time for the conference to be held in an inland city of China.
SISU, a hub of international talent, shouldered the foreign affairs volunteer work, which was the most important part of the volunteering activities of APOC. Under the organization and coordination of SISU s Youth League Committee, the organizing committee of APOC recruited 32 volunteers from SISU whose majors covered nine languages--English, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Arabic and Russian.
As for these volunteers performance, the head of volunteer department of the APOC said, Volunteers from SISU excelled in their translation and interpretation. They worked hard and dealt with people sincerely. Their performances were well received by foreign guests, and we will continue to recruit volunteers from SISU next time.
