President Pu Yuzhong Meets with NUI Maynooth Delegation

On November 16, Lawrence Taylor, Vice President of National University of Ireland (NUI), Maynooth, Wendy Wu, Head of NUI s International Exchange Office and Wu Xiyue, Director of NUI Maynooth Beijing Office visited Jiangsu Polytechnic University. President Pu Yuzhong and Vice President Sun Xiaoqiang acompanied by the head of International Office and the head of School of International Education and Exchange met with the vice president and the delegation in the VIP reception room.
On behalf of the party committee and the school administration, President Pu Yuzhong extended a warm welcome to the Irish guests and many thanks for their hospitality toward JPU s trainees during their stay in Ireland. He said that since the establishment of the cooperative relationship, the two universities have had close cooperation and frequent exchanges. The formality and quality of the cooperatively-run school are widely recognized by the society. It was hoped that the two sides could push forward closer cooperation at all levels and on a wider scope. Vice President Lawrence Taylor conveyed the greeting of President John G. Hughes and sincerely invited President Pu to visit their university.
On the morning of November 16, Lawrence Taylor and the delegation met with the students of the Sino-Irish program in the multi-functional hall of School of International Education and Exchange. The delegation briefly introduced NUI Maynooth to the students and communicated with them on topics concerning overseas study, living, further education, work and so forth. Vice President Sun Xiaoqiang also attended the meeting.
In the afternoon, the delegation had in-depth discussion with the heads of International Office and School of International Education and Exchange on issues related to the exchanges of teachers, the introduction of textbooks and the construction of a test platform through joint efforts. The two sides reached a preliminary agreement.
