VP of Rostock University in Germany on Visit to HUST

Prof. Dr. Ursula van Riene, Vice-Chancellor of Rostock University paid a friendly visit to HUST between October 20 and 23 at the invitation of German Culture Institute, School of Foreign Language.

On Oct. 20, Prof. Rienen visited Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics WNLO and exchanged views first with Vice-President Luo Qingming on scientific cooperation. Prof. Rienen paid the following visit to School of Foreign Languages SFL , where he introduced the history of Rostock University to third year students of the Department of German and answered questions from the students.

In the afternoon, Prof. Rienen held a talk with Li Xin, Deputy Dean of SFL, Wang Xunhua, Head of Department of German and faculty members. The two sides reached a preliminary agreement on the student exchange programs for German majors in both schools.

During his stay, Prof. Riene also paid a visit to the Pulsed Magnetic Field Center accompanied by Prof. Tang Yuejin, Deputy Dean of College of Electrical and Electronic Engineering CEEE and gave high praise for the PMDS magnet design software which is developed independently by the center. Later Prof.

Rienen exchanged views with Academician Fan Mingwu and his research group members. Due to the hopeful prospect of cooperation in the field of magnet research and design between the two universities, Prof. Rienen delightedly delivered an academic report entitled Electromagnetic Method of Digital Design and Virtual Design Technology for the teachers and students of CEEE.

On Oct. 23, Prof. Rienen visited Tongji Medical College TMC with company of Zhang Jianwei, Head of German Culture Institute and reached cooperative intention with Prof. Feng Gansheng, Vice-President of TMC on programs like students exchange and filed work.
