In the evening of September 16, the national flag of China raised high in the hall where Braun International Industrial Design Competition awards ceremony was held in Frankfurt, Germany. The students from the Industrial Design Department of Mechanical College, for the first time, stepped onto the highest podium of the international industrial design world.
The invention named "Tri-Surviving Life Triangle Mine Rescue Equipment" was designed by Mao Feiyi and Yuan Shu under the guidance of Associated Professor Cao Huai and Teacher Long Ren. Their work first entered the world's 58 finalists, and won 19 strongest in the semi-finals, and eventually won the only big award "BraunPrize-China" in China Division, which is also the the top prize among all entries from mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan in 2009 Braun International Design Competition.
With the reputation of long history, high-quality and high-level authority, Braun International Industrial Design Competition, founded in 1967, is the first international design competition in Germany, which has been hailed as the "Oscars" in the field. Adhering to the concept "innovation make life easier", the competition encourages young designers around the world to design product creatively. Held every two years, it is attracting more and more young designers each term.
This award is also another big prize won by our students in top international competitions in the industrial design world, which fully demonstrates the Industrial Design Department of Mechanical College has reached a new level in industrial design education and personnel training. In recent years, students and staff of the department are constantly working hard and spare no effort to exert the overall advantage of the Mechanical College, and gradually construct their teaching system with Hust characteristics. The college strives to explore an innovative path for training the high-quality,complex-type talents of the young generation.
