Recently, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China published the selected results of the national level New Century Talent Project. Seven professors from HUST, Prof. Huang Yunhui, Prof. Xie Xiaolin, Prof. Ning Qin, Prof. Shao Xinyu, Prof. Wu Tangchun, Prof. Xu Minghou, and Prof. Zeng Shaoqun were in the list, which makes HUST one of the top Chinese universities.
The New Century Talent Project is co-organized by the former Ministry of Personnel, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education and other four ministries and commissions.
Excellent young talents under forty-five, having high academic attainments, having made outstanding contribution in their fields and gained remarkable results, are expected to be selected and trained. The candidates mostly include the winners of the China Young Scientists Award, high level returned scholars from the overseas, the selected grantees of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, leaders or main participants of the scientific projects not lower than provincial and national level engineering projects, and other exceptional people who have made outstanding contribution to the economic and social development and have made great achievements .
Prof. Huang Yunhui and the other six professors are the outstanding representatives among the young and middle-aged teachers of HUST. Their success will greatly improve the University's high level talents team construction and benefit the development of excellent young and middle-aged academic leaders.
According to statistics, there have been thirty-four candidates from HUST having been selected into the New Century National Talent Project.
