The fourth International Conference on the Foundations of Information Science FIS2010 was held jointly by Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence CAAI Artificial Intelligence Expertise Committee and Social Information Science Institute SISI of HUST in Beijing from Aug 21st to Aug 23rd.
It is known that the fourth FIS2010 is one of the three international conferences held by the second MACAI2010. And the first three sessions of FIS2010 were held in Madrid, Vienna and Paris respectively. The fourth FIS2010 attracts about sixty experts and researchers from famous universities, like Peking University, Tsinghua University, Xi an Jiaotong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and universities from other countries, like Austria, Spain, Germany, America, Russia, Sweden, South Africa, Switzerland and Japan, etc. In a friendly atmosphere, the experts from different countries made speeches about fundamental conceptions about information theories.
With a high standard for academic research, the conference presented the achievements of information theory of these experts. After the ceremony, leading figures of this area, from China, countries of Europe, America and Russia, gave academic reports, pushing the academic exchange among these countries. For the convenience of exchanges and higher level quality of this conference, before the conference the Northwestern Polytechnical University Press published the memoir, Information, Intelligence and Logic third volume : Collection of Information Science Fundamental Research.
