On Nov. 24th, Su Xiongfeng, a HUST first-year graduate student, won the silver medal of long jump in the Asian Games with 8.05 meters. He is the first person brought up solely by HUST s efforts to win the medal in Asian Games.
Su Xiongfeng was enrolled in HUST in 2006. With the deliberate cultivation of Yu Changqing, the instructor, Su progressed to be recommended as a graduate student in the Department of Physical Education. This March, Su with 8.27 meters, broke the national record that has been kept for 14 years in indoor long jump and the Asian record of 8.24 meters. Then, in this May, he won the championship, with 8.11 meters, while participating in the long jump in Osaka held by IAAF.
