On Nov. 6th, the third annual meeting of Michigan Chinese Language Association was held in Wayne State University in Detroit America. Liu Jiuming, professor of humanities, deputy dean of the School of Humanities and the dean, from China side, of Confucius Institute, was awarded the Special Award of Merit from Michigan Chinese Language Association for his efforts in popularizing Chinese Language and Chinese Culture.
Since the foundation of Confucius Institute in Jan. 2008, Liu Jiuming has been acting as China s dean of the Confucius Institute in Wayne State University. Under his brilliant leadership, the Confucius Institute launched a series of activities to popularize Chinese language and Chinese culture, making great progress in Chinese teaching and spreading of Chinese culture, which was also a strengthened support for Chinese teaching to students at various levels in Michigan.
