Italian hotel industry fight against new tax

The Board of Directors of the Federalberghi-Confturismo has made a decision to protest against the introduction of the hotel tax.

The new hotel tax is part of the decree on fiscal municipal federalism. As a form of protest, the Italian resolution of the Board of Directors of the Federation will encourage 34,000 Italian hotels to not accept reservations for March 17, the day of celebration of the unification of Italy. The Federation also plans to do a march of the workers should the bicameral Commission on Federalism refuse to take the side of the companies in the hotel industry. Bernabo Bocca, president, Federalberghi-Confturismo, was quoted in eTurbo News as having said that they share the need for the country to modernise and agree that the advent of fiscal federalism is certainly a critical step but they cannot but condemn the way the government and the bicameral embarked on federalism that is a narrow dead-end in which it is likely to end up one of the few really productive sectors of the Italian industry.
