The Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB) has launched a GBP1-million spring marketing campaign to attract people from the north and south of Ireland to holiday north of the border.
The new campaign is part of an initiative to double the visitor revenue to GBP1-billion annually by the year 2020. Arlene Foster, Tourism minister, NITB, was quoted in eTurbo News as having said that competition for visitors is intense but the NITB s spring campaign will support growth by promoting key attractions and that they strive to grow visitor revenue to GBP1-billion and increase visitor numbers to 4.5-million over the next decade.
Tourism officials are optimistic that the completion of signature projects such as the visitor s centre at the Giant s Causeway and the opening of the Titanic visitor attraction will help raise the tourism numbers from the current figure of 3.2-million.
