TAT to launch stopover campaign

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has revealed plans of launching Amazing Thailand Stopover , a seven-month campaign targeted to attract more transit and stopover tourists to Bangkok.

The new stopover campaign is set to be unveiled at ITB Berlin in March 2011 and run until September of this year. The campaign aims to increase transit tourists stopping over in Bangkok and convert these stopover tourists into extended-stay tourists. Suraphon Svetasreni, governor, TAT, was quoted in Travel Daily Asia as having said that they are hoping to attract at least 10% of these total transit passengers to take advantage of their special campaign, persuade them to take appetiser tours in Thailand and then entice them to return for a more extended main course visit to Thailand later.

TAT has provided stopover tours in the past but mainly for tourists transiting at the Bangkok airport for less than 24 hours. This new campaign will offer longer-stay stopover packages and assist those who plan to change flights at the airport in Bangkok and create packages that would fit their travel schedule.
