Hubei, China draws the Australians

Hubei, China has attracted a number of Australian tourists, making Australia one of the most important inbound markets for the Chinese province.

The number of Australian tourists who visited Hubei grew by 29.7% to 61,057 in 2009, and is expected to go up to 70,000 in 2010. Hubei Tourism has recently launched its Hubei Home of Wonders tourism campaign to draw more tourists. Pan Xi Han, deputy director, Hubei Provincial Tourism Administration, was quoted in eTravel Blackboard as having said that in recent years Hubei Province has been intensifying its efforts in upgrading tourism infrastructures and improving reception capabilities.

Hubei s most popular tourist attractions include the area of the Three Gorges which is home to the world s largest hydroelectric project, the Three Gorges Dam. It is also the origin of a special brand of martial arts that was made famous by the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon .
