Dubai records passenger surge

Passenger traffic in Dubai International Airport has made a new record by reaching up to 47.2-million, a 15.3% increase for 2010. This is much ahead of the 46.1 million that was originally estimated for the year.
According to a report in Travel Daily UK, an annual traffic report issued by Dubai Airports has shown that passenger numbers reached 4.2-million in December; an increase of 11.6% compared to 3.8-million recorded during same time last year. Dubai Airports has also seen passenger numbers go beyond the four million mark, for the third consecutive month in December 2010.
The emirate expects the passenger number rise to continue throughout 2011, with an anticipated 11% increase to 52.2-million.
