A Hangzhou charter made its inaugural flight on February 1, 2011, bound for Guam. Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) and Continental Airlines representatives welcomed the 153-passengers on arrival.
The Hangzhou flight is one of the nine charters that would arrive in Guam from mainland China from January 28-February 5 for the New Year holiday, with another charter from Shenyang leaving on Friday, February 4, 2011. Gerald SA Perez, general manager, GVB, was quoted as having said that although the Hangzhou and Shenyang charters are only two of nine flights coming from mainland China this holiday season, they are particularly significant because they represent two regions that GVB have not been able to reach with direct air service until this point.
