Accor has revealed their plans to launch 18-hotels with 4,850 rooms in the Middle East, within the next three years. The hotel group is set to open 11 new hotels in the UAE, three in Syria, two in Bahrain, and two in Saudi Arabia.
Christophe Landais, managing director, Accor Middle East, was quoted in Travel Daily Asia as having said that by focussing on their core strength, the group planned to expand their internationally branded economy hotel ibis and mid-market hotel brand Novotel in the UAE, which would drive tourism flows and redefine Middle East hospitality industry in the long-term. A new brand, Adagio, will join the Accor Middle East portfolio by late 2011 or early 2012, with the Adagio City Aparthotel opening in Abu Dhabi. Further, following on the Pullman Dubai, Mall of the Emirates, Accor will sustain its upscale brand positioning with the 354-room Pullman Dubai Jumeirah Lake opening later this year.
With the proposed additional properties, Accor s regional network will go up to 54-hotels, representing approximately 12,497-rooms by the year 2014.
