Rugby New Zealand 2011 (RNZ 2011) will not let the Christchurch earthquake deter them from holding the Rugby World Cup 2011 in New Zealand, denying rumours that the venue has been shifted to Australia.
Martin Snedden, chief executive, Rugby New Zealand 2011, was quoted in eGlobal Travel Media as having said that it was too early to talk in any detail about implications for the tournament in Christchurch and any assessment by them must wait while the rescue efforts took priority. Snedden added that their organisation would lead a thorough process of assessing the city s ability to host the seven Rugby World Cup 2011 matches that are scheduled to take place in Christchurch. The organisation planned to evaluate the status of the key Rugby World Cup 2011 infrastructure including the stadium, hotels, training facilities and the transportation network.
