DEPUTY SECRETARY OF SHANXI PROVINCIAL PARTY COMMITTEE AND GOVERNOR OF SHANXI PROVINCE WANG JUN AND HIS PARTY INSPECT OUR UNIVERSITY

On the morning of May 26, Deputy Secretary of Shanxi Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Shanxi province Wang Jun, Vice-governor Zhang Ping, led a group of people to our university to inspect and guide our work. Members of the group include Director-general of Department of Education of our province Li Dongfu, and other related provincial and municipal leaders. Accompanied by the leaders of our university Qin Liangyu, Guo Guichun, Liu Weiqi and people in charge of the related sections, they successively visited the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, School of Environment and Resource, and Environmental Science and Engineering Research Center.

During the inspection, Governor Wang Jun conferred with Secretary of Party Committee of our university Qin Liangyu and President Guo Guichun. He listened to President Guo s work report about the current situations in the development of scientific research and of other fields, and they exchanged views about the research on related subjects involving chemical engineering, environment, etc., the popularization of industrialization and the problems it confronts.

In Engineering Research Center of Fine Chemicals, Dean of School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Zhao Yongxiang introduced to Governor Wang Jun and his party thoroughly the main scientific research projects assumed by the center, which aroused Governor Wang Jun s great interest and concern. He talked kindly with the students conducting the experiment.

In School of Environment and Resource, Dean Zhang Nan made a detailed report on the school s classification of disciplines, personnel composition, research areas and so on. Governor Wang fully affirmed the reasonable establishment of the majors of the discipline, hoping that we would achieve more fruits in the research so that we could provide an important basis and technical support for the related departments of our province to make policies of economic development and scientific and technical progress.

Afterwards, Governor Wang Jun and his party visited Environmental Science and Engineering Research Center. After listening to Center Director Professor Dong Chuan s brief account of the research on new materials of environmental protection and so on, they fully acknowledged the contribution of their research results to Shanxi s economic development.
