A Delegation Led by Deputy Party Secretary Jin Jinru Visited U.S and Canada

A six-member delegation led by Deputy Party Secretary Jin Jinru was asked to visit CaliforniaStateUniversity, Chico and Fashion Institute of Technology, SUNY and the Education Office of the Embassy of PRC in Canada and met some representatives of ZSTU Alumni Association of North America.

ZSTU signed an inter-collegiate cooperation memo with CSUC on Oct. 22nd, 2009. During its visit, the delegation was warmly received by President Paul J.Zingg, Vice President Sandra M.Flake and Dr. Li Fengxiang, Head of the Office of International Education. The delegation had talks with the curator of the library, deans and professors from College of Humanities and Fine Arts, College of Natural Sciences, College of Engineering, College of Business on long-term and short-term student exchange programs, teacher exchange programs, constructions of the Confucius institute and other topics. Both parties intended to start from the project easiest to operate and achieve substantive operation and exchange. Visiting Meriam Library, PerformingArtsCenter and other buildings on campus and observing the sketch teaching of the students from College of Humanities and Fine Arts, the delegation thought of CSUC an ideal destination for study abroad with a beautiful campus, culture richness, good academic atmosphere and pleasant climate and environment.

The Delegataion also met Professor Chen Hui, Head of ZSTU Alumni Association of North America and other representatives. Jin Jinru introduced to the alumni the recent development, the discipline construction and planning and the status quo and progress in research of ZSTU and answered questions of their concern. She also handed out external publicity brochures of ZSTU (English Version) and the publicity materials for the recruitment of overseas and domestic high-level talents and called on overseas alumni to contribute to ZSTU s development by recommending highly qualified talents overseas.

Fashion Institute of Technology, SUNY, an institute of long-term friendly cooperation with ZSTU, was the second destination to visit for the delegation which was given an enthusiastic welcome by Dr. Gretchen M.Bataille, the new vice president and. Georgianna Appignani, the Director of International Program Office and other faculty members accompanied and had an in-depth discussion with the delegation. Both parties intensively discussed and exchanged ideas on how to increase and deepen the cooperation and extended the hope to cooperate in cultivating fashion design graduates. Jin Jinru also asked FIT about the study and life of students from ZSTU their and expressed high expectations of them.

The delegation also paid a visit to responsible officials of the Education Office of the Embassy of PRC in Canada. First Secretary, Xu Lianjie, Lian Shaohua, etc. received the delegation with great hospitality. Liu Shaohua gave a basic introduction of high education in Canada and answered the questions they were interested in. The delegation stated to the officials the purpose of this visit and presented some external publicity materials of ZSTU in the hope that the embassy could help to increase inter-collegiate exchange and cooperation between ZSTU and colleges and universities in Canada, to introduce the talent introduction policy of ZSTU to qualified talents in Canada and to recommend Canadian students to study in ZSTU. The delegation also sensed the charm of the University of Toronto, a world-renown university.
