2010 Freshmen Mobilisation Gathering for Military Training

XJTLU, China 25th August, 2010 In the morning of Aug 25th, freshmen of XJTLU gathered in Dushu Lake Higher Education Town Sports Park for their military training mobilisation gathering. In camouflage training suits, Deputy President Prof Yang Mingzhu, several officers and soldiers from Nanjing Regional Military joined over 1,700 freshmen in the Sports Park for this gathering.

The mobilisation gathering started at 9am in the solemn national anthem.

Prof Yang gave opening speech in the gathering. Military training is a very important part of your education at XJTLU, he said, I hope students would learn cooperation and interaction through this training, be a better person with positive attitude and solid execution, strong will and strict organisational discipline, as well as hard-working spirit.

Prof Yang also expressed his wish that all 2010 new students would learn collective spirit from the military training, be modest and open minded, have a better sense of patriot, and he hope that new students can understand each other, help each other, to develop team spirit and collective accomplishment in order to be well prepared for the life ahead of them.

The mobilisation gathering marks the opening of the 10-day military training. This year, freshmen of XJTLU are divided into 29 different groups, trained by 31 officers from Nanjing Regional Military stationed at Suzhou. Students will learn army formation, discipline and basic military rules, some self-defense boxing and some military theories and so on.

Regarding the extreme heat in Suzhou recently, shelters and drinking water are provided in the ground and medical personnel are ready for students. During this short period, students are required to take night training sessions as well, assuring the successfully accomplishment of this year s military training.
