(XJTLU, China - 9th Sep, 2010) Mr.Yang Zhiping, Director of SIP Administrative Committee and his retinue visited Xi an Jiaotong-Liverpool University today, embracing the 26th National Teachers Day, which falls on Sept. 10th.
During his visit XJTLU President, Xi Youmin, initially guided him round the new Buildings Laboratory explaining the Teaching and Research objectives it aims to achieve through the state-of-the-art facilities. He was then introduced to some of the academic staff members, commending their work ethic and positive attitudes towards the university.
Proceeding through the hanging garden of the Building 2, President Xi Youmin expounded the new low-carbon technologies employed at the building such as the geothermal heat pump system and rainwater recycling. Mr. Yang and his colleagues were clearly impressed by the green motivation behind the building and suggested it featured in the other buildings currently under construction; creating a model green campus .
There was also a brief visit to one of the new lecture theatres where the Committee greeted teachers and students alike with best festival wishes. The SIP director commented that, XJTLU provides a good environment to live and study in and the local government will continue to support its development .
Before leaving, Mr. Yang expressed his delight at the rapid yet sustainable growth of the University and expects XJTLU to contribute more and more to Suzhou s economic and social development.
