(XJTLU, China - 21st September) The majority of academic and administrative staff was in attendance for XJTLU s annual agenda forum for the current year on Tuesday.
It was a chance for the senior management team(SMT) to portray their ideas of where the university should be heading. At the same time it was an opportunity for staff to raise questions and make suggestions to the SMT about the objectives laid out.
It began with Professor XI reminding old and presenting to new staff the vision and mission that the University is based on and that should be considered when making any key decision in any department. Prof. XI shared his presentation, named "XJTLU and Its Exploration of Higher Education Model", with all present staff.
He pointed out that the first four-year teaching practice of XJTLU has been a venture for combining eastern and western education models, concepts, and advantages. The achievements of the university's first graduates this year have proved a primary success and recognition of XJTLU's exploration of internationalised education.
Prof. XI introduced the leadership agenda and the university future development plan as well. In the next four years, XJTLU will continue to build up better environment for exploration of educational model,and to conduct upgraded learning and teaching progress, as well as to promote the university's brand and reputation. Furthermore, within the next stage of development, XJTLU will complete the construction of the south campus.
Following that, Professor David Sadler explained all academic affairs that will be concentrated on, including UoL and external accreditation; Academic leadership; XJTLU education model; internationalization strategy; and research capacity building.
Furthermore, Professor Yang presented the plans for Student Affairs such as implementing the five star education model, strengthening the alumni relations and improving the operation system of student affairs, amongst other things.
Finally Mr Ding Yimin, head of administrative affairs, talked about the direction he wants Human Resources, Finance, External Liaison and campus development/management headed in.
Staff responded throughout with valuable points that will be taken into account by the SMT and overall the forum was received by staff in a positive way.
