(XJTLU, China - 7th Dec.) The 1st IEEE International Conference on Networked Embedded Systems for Enterprise Applications (NESEA 2010) was held at the Xi an Jiaotong-Liverpool International Conference Center on November 25th and 26th, 2010. The NESEA 2010 conference is co-sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society (US) and XJTLU.
The embedded systems are manly applied to manipulate, monitor or facilitate the operation of apparatus, machines and equipment. Fundamental research from the various specialisations of networked embedded systems, such as wireless sensor networks, mobile equipment, has been applied to tackle a wide range of significant problems. However, current approaches often lack consideration of how networked embedded systems should be integrated with enterprise architectures.
NESEA aims to gather the best in current expertise in this field, to drive research into the integration of embedded systems and enterprise architectures and promote the use of networked embedded systems to address critical problems facing industry such as energy monitoring and conservation.
More than 20 experts and scholars from a host of countries in the world including United States, Germany, and UK participated in the two-day international symposium. The participants delivered presentations and discussed about a variety of aspects such as network system structure, security routing and hardware design.
The conference was chaired by Dr. Christophe Huygens, from the Department of Computer Science, Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium; and Kevin Lee, from the Department of Business Management and E-Commerce, Murdoch University, Australia. 16 out of 31 research papers received in the Conference were selected by the International Journal of Design, Analysis and Tools for Integrated Circuits and Systems (IJDATICS), and would be published in the coming spring.
This conference arranged a Student Demonstration round. Students from XJTLU presented 5 papers including Integrating Color Vector Quantization and Curvelet Transform for Image Retrieval Ordered Incremental Attribute Learning based on mRMR and Neural Networks in the afternoon of the 26th, November.
The 2nd IEEE International Conference on Networked Embedded Systems for Enterprise Applications will be held in Murdoch University, Australia, next December, 2011.
Dr. Daniel Hughes, from the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, XJTLU, was the chief organizer of this international conference. Dr. Hughes graduated from Lancaster University, UK, and is a member of IEEE and IAQCSIT respectively.
