(XJTLU, Suzhou) The American Night, sponsored by XJTLU s Language Union, was held on November, 18th, 2010.
This campus event included such three parts as Q&A, Interactive Games and Talent Show. During the Q&A part, students from the U.S. and China, in 6 groups, answered questions about American and Chinese cultures in a free and easy atmosphere. All the students present actively participated in the games and laughed a lot, in particular the Body Knot, a game which is very popular in the States.
The U.S. students improvised their short play very creatively. The guitar performance by John, an American student, and the Chinese Di Solo of Romeo and Julie by a Chinese student featured the spirit of this culture night. The event concluded in cheers after an hour.
Martha, an American student, who has been learning Chinese for more than one year, expressed that she is very glad to study at XJTLU as an exchange student. She said, I am very happy today for making many Chinese friends. We have exchanged our contact information for keeping in touch in future. She has made her mind to learn Chinese better after this event and has been planning to know more Chinese culture.
Xuan Jin, a first-year student of the Dept. of Business, Economics & Management, said that he was very thankful to the University for having provided him with such a precious opportunity. It is very easy for us to become close friends with the U.S. students since we are young men. This activity helped us know more about the international students. And let us understand more about the U.S.
