Dr. Michael Hudson who was nominated for the Nobel Economics Prize in 1975 lectured in HUST on the morning of November 9. Lu Gang, the party secretary awarded letter of appointment of honorary professor to Dr. Hudson.

Later Dr. Michael Hudson made a splendid report entitled The Survey of US Financial Crisis for the teachers and students from College of Public Administration. Lu Gang, Ouyang Kang, Xu Xiaolin and other senior leaders attended the lecture presided over by Lu Gang.

During the lecture, Professor Hudson first reviewed the monetary history in the America and the US dollar s status in the current international monetary system. He then criticized the Neoliberalism and the US policy stating that the promotion of Neoliberalism was a principal reason for the underdevelopment of public utilities and the widening gap between the rich and the poor.

Professor Hudson then added that the authority of some monopoly industries such as transportation and the public sector should be in the hand of the government because a strong government would be the ultimate choice. He was very critical about the inconsistency of the US policy at home and abroad.

After the report, a couple of teachers and students put forward their own thoughts and questions regarding the content of the report, and Dr. Hudson answered their questions in great detail. The atmosphere of this question-and-answer session was lively and inspiring.

Dr. Hudson will give another two academic lectures entitled Marxist Analysts on Wall Street and Neoliberalism in US here in HUST.
