A three-member delegation from Technische Universit t Dresden TUD headed by Prof. Hermann Kokenge, the university President, paid their visit to HUST on October 27. The delegation was welcomed by Li Peigen, President of HUST, in the Reception Room for international guests. President Li led a group visit to TUD in 2007.
Both sides exchanged views on communications between students of medicine and cooperation in engineering, particularly in the fields of biotechnology and material science. During the visit the delegation was shown around the Biomedical Photonics Research Center attached to Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics WNLO . Prof. Zeng Shaoqun gave visitors a detailed introduction to their research interests and findings. Very much impressed, Prof. Hermann Kokenge then expressed his intention to immediately facilitate the cooperation in Biomedical Photonics with the Center.
TUD Technische Universit t Dresden , member of TU9 German Institutes of Technology, was founded in 1828. TU9, a consortium of 9 German universities enjoying a long tradition in engineering and natural science, is renowned both in Germany and worldwide. Other members include RWTH Aachen, TU Berlin, TU Braunschweig, TU Darmstadt, Universit t Hannover, Universit t Karlsruhe, TU M nchen and Universit t Stuttgart.
The other two members of the delegation are Prof. Hanno Hortsch, Dean of Vocational Education Center, and Dr. Birgit Haese, Dean of Center for East Asian Studies. Chiefs from the International Exchange Center, the School of Life Science and Technology and the School of Material Science attended the meeting.
