Prof. Guy Couarraze, new president of Universit Paris-Sud 11, paid an official visit to HUST on Nov. 5, 2009. President Li Peigen, while meeting the guest, expressed his congratulations on his promotion and exchanged ideas about cooperation fields.
The guest, together with other delegation members, was delivered a general introduction in the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics and visited laboratories concerned with life science and laser technology. An in-depth intercommunication with the School of Optoelectronic Science and Engineering was also conducted to discuss the on-going program of exchange students. Both parties showed satisfaction with the achievements made in the program in recent five years, and talked in details about new arising problems and solutions in further execution of this program.
In the afternoon, the guests, going out of their way, visited Tongji Medical College. Medicine is one of the major disciplines in Universit Paris-Sud 11, whose affiliated hospital is well-known in Paris. To promote medical cooperation and communication is also embedded in the goals. President Guy Couarraze, after being given a brief introduction of Tongji Medical College, visited some medical laboratories, and communicated with heads of P4 Protection Level 4 Laboratory from HUST side. The Laboratory will be founded in the near future.
Since 2006, there has been a close link between HUST and Universit Paris-Sud 11. Up to now, nearly one hundred HUST students have been there for further education. The guests also had a face-to-face talk with students from the French-characterized class in the school of optoelectronic science and engineering.
Among the guests is Prof. Laurent Ruhlmann, who is in charge of Chinese exchange affairs. Heads of the International Exchange Center and the School of Optoelectronic Science and Engineering also showed up at the meeting.
