On 30th and 31st October, the 3rd Conference of Advisory Board of Britton Chance Center for Biomedical Photonics and the Seminar of Development Strategy of Optoelectronics Medical Instruments were held in Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics.
The Advisory Board of Britton Chance Center for Biomedical Photonics was formed on 18th, October 2006, which consists of twenty-six senior experts, two of whom are Nobel Prize laureates. April 2007 and November 2008 witnessed the accomplishments of the 1st and 2nd conferences.
This year, ten distinguished members attended the conference. They are Mr. Howard Chen, the Partner and President of Asian Affairs Department of K&L Gates, Mr. Shu Chien, a member of American Academy of Arts & Science and the Dean of Whitaker Institute of Biomedical Engineering, UCSD, Mr. Steven Goodman, Vice-President of SUNY Upstate Medical University, Prof. A. Stephen Dahms, President and CEO of the Alfred E. Mann Foundation for Biomedical Engineering, Mr. Da Hsuan Feng, Senior Executive Vice President of Taiwan Cheng Kung University, Mr. Bruce Tromberg, Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the College of Medicine, University of California, Irvine, Mr. Wang Lihong, Professor of The Department of Biomedical Engineering, Washington University in St. Louis, Prof. Yang Fujia, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chancellor of the University of Nottingham, England, Academician Yao Jianquan, Associate Director of Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics and Mr. Zheng Baoyong, Senior Vice-President of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.
Prof. Luo Qingming, Vice-President of HUST and Director of aforementioned Britton Chance Center, hosted the opening ceremony of the Conference and delivered the annual progress report of the Center. Thence Prof. Luo granted Mr. Stephan Dahms, Mr. Steven Goodman and Mr. Bruce Tromberg the title of Visiting Professor and the letters of appointment. Meanwhile, Academician Ye Zhaohui, Director of Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, awarded Mr. Shu Chien, as a new member of the Advisory Board, the letter of appointment. Last of all, Mr. Da Hsuan Feng, Vice-President of the Advisory Board, addressed the Conference and strenuously invited Mr. Shu Chien and Mr. Yang Fujia to express their views upon the conference which they firstly attended.
Since most of the guests are great masters in specific spheres, they are invited to give lectures for the students of HUST after the Conference.
